Juan Sebastian started Son Del Barril in 2015 with seed money from the Antioquian government. He quickly rose to popularity, especially in and around the Santa Elena area just outside Medellin. S.D.B. became known for their Cannabirra recipe, an American Pale Ale spiced with cannabis aroma. Juan also offered 6 core styles. The company won several awards including most recently 3rd place in the Torneo Cervecero de Las Flores in 2018, and 5th place at the same event in 2019.

In early 2019, original owner Juan Sebastian decided to pursue an opportunity to open a new brewery in Europe. Son del Barril was taken over by a small team consisting of a brewer from Denver, an Australian jack of all trades and a Medellin local.

Since then, we've been working hard on new recipes and new content with a focus on innovation. We've stepped up our distribution, and our overall quality. We're also working to support the local community through things we're passionate, beer and beyond. Cheers!
